Hi Philippines
Philippines Entry and eTravel: What to Do Before You Fly
Check the entry rules for your passport, complete the official eTravel form and keep your QR code ready before departure.
Short answer
Before flying to the Philippines, check the entry conditions for your passport and trip, then complete the official eTravel registration if your travel category requires it. Save the QR code where you can reach it offline. eTravel is free and is not a visa.
This guide covers the steps before and during border arrival. For the journey from the airport to your first night, use Your First 24 Hours in the Philippines.
Check your entry conditions first
Visa requirements, permitted stay, passport validity and any onward-travel evidence depend on your nationality and circumstances. Check the current guidance from the Philippine Bureau of Immigration and the Philippine embassy or consulate responsible for your application before booking, then check again before departure. Avoid relying on a blanket visa-free or passport-validity rule from an old travel post.
Completing eTravel does not grant a visa or guarantee admission. Immigration authorities decide admission at the border, including when a traveler holds a visa. Keep the documents relevant to your entry category accessible during the journey. The Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs explains the admission caveat in its visa guidance.
Complete eTravel before you fly
The official eTravel FAQ says arriving Filipino and foreign passengers generally need to register or update their details. Its listed exceptions include certain diplomats and dependants, official delegations, 9(e) visa holders and holders of diplomatic, official or service passports. If you think an exception applies, check your exact category in the current FAQ rather than assuming you can skip registration.
The FAQ permits registration within 72 hours before arrival. Use only etravel.gov.ph: registration is free, works in a browser and does not require a separate app. A site asking you to pay for eTravel registration is not the official service.
After submitting, save or screenshot your QR code before leaving for the airport. The FAQ says travelers should have proof of registration available before boarding. If you lose the code, return to the official eTravel website and check its current sign-in or registration-recovery options. Site navigation can change, so avoid relying on an old direct link. Keep the code and reference reachable without depending on airport Wi-Fi.
Complete the Customs information
The Philippine Customs baggage declaration is integrated with eTravel. Complete the information the system asks for, including a currency declaration if applicable. Bureau of Customs guidance says routine QR scanning is currently unnecessary in the Green Lane, while Red Lane travelers and people selected for inspection may still have their codes scanned. That does not remove the declaration step. Follow the signs and officers’ instructions at your arrival airport; procedures can change.
If you are carrying substantial cash or covered monetary instruments, check the distinct Philippine-peso and foreign-currency rules in Cash, Cards and ATMs before you travel.
